SINGAPORE: The USA has authorised Singapore’s request to improve its M142 Excessive Mobility Artillery Rocket Programs (HIMARS) in a deal estimated to be price US$73 million.

In a press launch on Monday (Jun 15), the US State Division stated Singapore had requested to buy 18 Widespread Hearth Management Programs (CFCS) improve kits for the rocket artillery system.

In accordance with defence business publications, the CFCS makes use of digital processing to manage launchers and handle weapons, enhancing focusing on accuracy and general operational effectiveness.

“The HIMARS is a land-based precision strike asset that has been in service with the Singapore Armed Forces since 2010,” stated Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) on Friday in response to CNA queries.

“Because the Singapore Armed Forces continues its modernisation efforts, the HIMARS stays a essential element of its operational capabilities, and can endure upgrades to make sure it stays able to assembly evolving operational and coaching necessities within the years forward.”

The proposed sale consists of help gear, technical documentation, spare elements, coaching, US authorities and contractor technical help, engineering and logistics help companies and subject workplace help.

The US State Division stated the choice to promote the improve kits “is not going to alter the fundamental army steadiness within the area”.

Nevertheless, it’s going to enhance the potential of Singapore, which Washington sees as a “strategic companion that is a crucial drive for political stability and financial progress in Asia”, to fulfill future and present threats.
