Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a stern rebuke of a current blasphemous efficiency of “Jesus Christ Celebrity” on the Hollywood Bowl, calling out the troubling sample of anti-Christian assaults which have continued for the reason that religion’s earliest days.
In an interview with EWTN’s “The World Over” aired on Thursday, Rubio addressed considerations raised by Christians over the casting of black feminine bisexual actress Cynthia Erivo as Jesus, describing the manufacturing as a part of a broader effort to impress and undermine non secular values.
“I don’t comply with any of that stuff, however simply the way you’ve described it to me, no, I imply, clearly, look, that stuff’s finished to be provocative and to insinuate, however I believe for individuals of religion, none of this must be new,” Rubio stated.

“It’s been true from the start in Christianity, it’s been – Christianity has been mocked, Christianity has been attacked from its very inception,” Rubio continued. “In truth, the Church has historically been at its strongest when it’s the persecuted church, it’s been at its weakest when it kind of will get consumed by the tradition.”

Rubio defined that Christianity has historically been at odds with the tradition.
“And so, by definition, Christianity has all the time been countercultural,” he stated.
Rubio concluded, “It was from its earliest days, and it’s been at its strongest and most vibrant. Now, that doesn’t imply we search persecution or we don’t take it on. It does. However I believe we should always perceive that, that Christ’s personal command and Christ’s personal phrases, he tells us they’re going to hate you due to me.”
