    NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned Tuesday (Apr 14) that US President Donald Trump had referred to as him to debate the Center East battle – and the significance of the Strait of Hormuz.

    Modi mentioned it was a “helpful trade of views”, including that India “helps de-escalation and restoration of peace on the earliest”, he wrote on social media.

    Maritime site visitors by way of the Gulf chokepoint – which usually carries a fifth of the world’s seaborne crude – has come to a digital standstill since US-Israeli strikes on Iran final month, triggering a regional battle that has rattled world power provide chains.
