Israel has assassinated Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif and 4 different workers in a focused assault on a tent in Gaza Metropolis, taking the entire variety of journalists killed since October 7, 2023 to 269.

Correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh, cameramen Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Mohammed Noufal had been assembly in a media tent exterior al-Shifa Hospital after they had been focused by a drone.

Two others had been killed within the Sunday night assault that has drawn condemnation.

Al Jazeera Media Community has condemned what it known as a “focused assassination” and known as it “yet one more blatant and premeditated assault on press freedom”.

“This assault comes amid the catastrophic penalties of the continued Israeli assault on Gaza, which has seen the relentless slaughter of civilians, compelled hunger, and the obliteration of whole communities,” the community mentioned in a statement.

“The order to assassinate Anas Al Sharif, considered one of Gaza’s bravest journalists, and his colleagues, is a determined try to silence the voices exposing the approaching seizure and occupation of Gaza.”

The Committee to Shield Journalists (CPJ) says it’s “appalled” by Israel’s killing of Al Jazeera journalists.

“Israel’s sample of labeling journalists as militants with out offering credible proof raises severe questions on its intent and respect for press freedom,” mentioned the CPJ’s regional director, Sara Qudah.

“Journalists are civilians and must not ever be focused. These liable for these killings have to be held accountable,” Qudah added.

Final month the CPJ mentioned it was gravely involved for the protection of al-Sharif as he was being “focused by an Israeli navy smear marketing campaign”.

Since Israel launched its struggle on the enclave in October 2023, it has routinely accused Palestinian journalists in Gaza of being Hamas members, as a part of what rights teams say is an effort to discredit their reporting of Israeli abuses.
