I needed to learn state Rep. Mia Gregerson’s observations on the passage of this yr’s funds twice. (“Legislature passes $78B budget, rent cap, gun permits as it adjourns,” April 27, Native Information) She acknowledges that taxes had been simply raised by her and her colleagues and goes on to comment that “Taxes are available, and it’s our job to spend them.” I don’t doubt that’s frequent pondering in Olympia, however can somebody please introduce her to the idea of round reasoning? “We increase taxes and, as soon as that’s completed, it’s our obligation to spend them” isn’t a convincing justification for what simply occurred.
