Re: “Public safety: Military might vs. strategic approaches” (Aug. 13, Northwest Voices):

I realized within the army an important routine to deal with an injured fellow soldier. Step one is to cease the bleeding. If the bleeding doesn’t cease, the opposite three steps don’t matter.

President Donald Trump has despatched the Nationwide Guard to Washington, D.C., as a result of the management of the nation’s capital metropolis both can’t or is not going to adequately tackle the rampant crime within the metropolis that makes the downtown and even some suburban streets unsafe, particularly at night time. It’s not the president’s job to supply jail house or funding for remedial efforts to handle this crime in D.C. He’s making an attempt to cease the bleeding.
