SYDNEY: Security regulators launched an investigation on Sunday (Aug 9) right into a “close to collision” between two passenger plane at Australia’s busiest airport that injured a crew member.

The incident, which concerned a Jetstar pilot being pressured to use sudden brakes to keep away from crashing right into a Qatar Airways jet on Sunday morning, disrupted operations at Sydney Airport.

The Australian Transport Security Bureau (ATSB) stated a Jetstar Airbus A320 was taxiing for a flight to the Gold Coast on Sunday morning when its crew “noticed a Qatar Airways Boeing 777, below tow from an plane tug, in shut proximity on a crossing taxiway”.

“A cabin crew member aboard the (Jetstar) A320 was injured, and there was injury to the connection between the 777 nostril gear and plane tug” as each planes stopped abruptly, the assertion stated.

Investigators are gathering knowledge from each plane, air visitors management, and interviewing crew and tug operators to find out the reason for the close to collision, the regulator stated.

It referred to as for witnesses on the airport to ship in any video of the close to collision.

Flights at Sydney Airport are experiencing delays after the incident, Airservices Australia stated.

“Our plane was following directions by Air Site visitors Management when the pilots had been pressured to brake firmly after one other plane got here in shut proximity,” stated a Jetstar spokeswoman.

A Jetstar crew member transferring via the cabin was injured when the aircraft abruptly stopped, and later handled by paramedics.

Qatar Airways didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.

An official not authorised to talk publicly stated early data steered the tug pulling the Qatar aircraft didn’t observe air visitors management directions.
