    SYDNEY: A suspected “massive shark” mauled a person to loss of life in waters off northern Sydney on Saturday (Sep 6), Australian police stated, resulting in a string of seaside closures.

    The person was pulled out of the morning surf onto shore at Lengthy Reef Seashore however died on the scene, New South Wales police stated in a press release.

    “A person has died on the Northern Seashores after being bitten by what’s believed to have been a big shark,” police stated.

    Two sections of a surfboard had been recovered and brought for forensic examination.

    It was the primary deadly shark assault in Sydney since 2022, when 35-year-old British diving teacher Simon Nellist was killed off Little Bay.

    The earlier deadly assault within the metropolis was in 1963.

    Following the most recent assault, Pacific Ocean seashores between the northern suburbs of Manly and Narrabeen had been closed “pending additional discover”.
