    SYDNEY: 1000’s of residents in Australia’s east have been ordered to evacuate forward of Tropical Cyclone Alfred’s landfall on Saturday (Mar 8) because the storm introduced heavy rains, large waves and powerful winds that reduce off energy, eroded seashores and closed airports.

    Alfred has been shifting slowly towards the coast, elevating considerations it might lead to an extended and extended interval of heavy rainfall.
