    WASHINGTON: Two family members of slain Iranian general Qassem Soleimani have been arrested in the US after their residency permits have been rescinded, the US State Division stated on Saturday (Apr 4).

    “Final evening, the niece and grand niece of deceased Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Main Common Qassem Soleimani have been arrested by federal brokers following Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s termination of their lawful everlasting resident standing,” a division assertion stated.

    It recognized the niece as Hamideh Soleimani Afshar. Her daughter was not named. Each “at the moment are within the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” the assertion stated, with out specifying their whereabouts.

    SOLEIMANI’S FAMILY TARGETED

    Soleimani, who led the IRGC’s overseas operations arm, was killed in a US drone strike within the Iraqi capital Baghdad in January 2020, throughout Trump’s first time period within the White Home.

    The State Division stated Soleimani Afshar was “an outspoken supporter of the totalitarian, terrorist regime in Iran,” citing press studies and her personal social media exercise. It stated she had “praised the brand new Iranian Supreme Chief” Ali Khamenei and “denounced America because the ‘Nice Devil.'” Her husband has additionally been barred from coming into the US.
