Jimmy Cliff, Jamaican Reggae Icon, Is Lifeless

Jimmy Cliff, the Jamaican reggae singer who helped popularize the style all over the world with songs like “You Can Get It If You Actually Need” and “The More durable They Come,” has died. He was 81.

Music is like air that we breathe. And as soon as it’s there, all people breathes it. The trade, to me, is the primary time I got here out of my mom’s womb. And I say [screaming] — and I began making my sound and I by no means stopped. Music can spotlight consciousness. And from that consciousness, individuals can take some type of motion to higher the state of affairs. I feel that’s the function music has performed by the ages. And I feel it’s the function that it’s enjoying now. And I feel that’s the function that it will probably play.
