MOSCOW: The Kremlin expects Russia and Ukraine to debate the record of situations for a ceasefire within the battle in Ukraine subsequent week in Istanbul, its spokesman stated on Friday (Could 30), praising the US function in mediating the talks.

Russia has proposed holding the second round of talks with Ukraine in Istanbul on Jun 2. Nonetheless, Ukraine desires to see Russia’s proposals for a peace deal earlier than it sends a delegation to Türkiye, International Minister Andrii Sybiha stated on Friday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated the Russian delegation can be travelling to Istanbul and can be prepared for talks with Ukraine on Monday morning.

“For the time being, everybody is targeted on the direct Russia-Ukraine negotiations. A listing of situations for a brief truce is being developed,” Peskov informed reporters. He stated the main points of the memorandum is not going to be revealed.

Reuters reported earlier this week that Putin’s conditions for ending the war in Ukraine embody a requirement that Western leaders pledge in writing to cease enlarging NATO eastwards.

US President Donald Trump’s envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated earlier on Friday that Russia’s concern over the eastward enlargement of NATO was truthful and the US didn’t wish to see Ukraine within the US-led navy alliance.

Commenting on Kellogg’s assertion, Peskov stated that Putin has been constantly conveying Russia’s place on the inadmissibility of NATO’s eastward enlargement.

“We’re happy that these explanations by the president are understood, together with in Washington. And, after all, that is fairly interesting to us by way of the mediating function that Washington continues to play,” Peskov stated.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 after eight years of preventing in jap Ukraine between Russian-backed separatists and Ukrainian troops.
